Massage

Massage is an ancient healing art, with recorded use going back one thousand years ago. It is a natural fit with chiropractic medicine; both treatments use the hands to soothe and promote natural healing in the body.  Massage delivers benefits to the body through the practice of applying varying degrees of pressure and movement to manipulate muscles and soft tissues. It can:
  • Relax muscles and reduce tension
  • Increase blood and oxygen supply to the affected area
  • Decrease pain

Massage Stands Up to Research

Until recently, there was little research done on the effectiveness of massage therapy. Many patients reported anecdotally that massage provided positive benefits to them, but scientific evidence was scant. However, recent studies* now prove that massage offers health benefits including:
  • Decreased chronic low back pain
  • Reduced depression and anxiety
  • Increased range of motion
  • Improved sleep
